Ski season is just starting and most people are dreaming about mountains and powder rather than the beach. However, local Vancouver based company Kyda Creations just released their full length 2011 skim movie for free online. Although im an avid skimmer i sometimes find it tough to watch long skim movies due the lack of trick variety in this growing sport. This was not the case in Insufficient funds, which lasts just over 40 minutes and features progressive riding from some of skimboardings best riders . The movie was mostly filmed in the tidal pools surrounding Van city but also features some sessions on Van. Island and Hornby. If you not familiar with this new company you can check out their other videos on their youtube channel and buy their skimboards and other products at their site. Be on the look out for this local company to do big things in the future10.CALhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02284185342938854450noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8008818225118808418.post-23774714668529143432011-12-19T14:12:00.000-08:002011-12-19T14:12:55.490-08:00This Is My Winter, Follow Xavier de le Rue Around the Globe
This guy has to be insane, straight lining it down sheets of ice to 'scare himself'. Never the less one of the best freeriders in the world. Think of this when your shredding all that early season ice. So i just got home to Victoria for the christmas break and was greeted by a pleasant surprise. I guess blu finally decided to release the long awaited follow up to classic Below the Heavens. Apparently Blu and Exile recorded this in 09 i have no clue why the released it now, but who's complaining. I haven't had a chance to listen yet and while it will be almost impossible to live up to Below the Heavens i am more than stoked for this early christmas present from your boy blu.
Reason being, the entire isenseven crew showed us an unreal time at their Hamburg premiere. Long story short we had free drinks all night, the movie started at 2:30 in the morning, we ended up leaving around 5am and had to get a train to Amsterdam at 8:30 the next morning. Thanks so much Alex, Julia and the rest of the crew!

Anyways on with the review, expect the best style of riding from these european shredheads. Isenseven is easily the best crew out of germany and perhaps all of europe. Every year we expect next level riding from every crew. Iseneven gives us this matched with the best cinematography to date. Every riders intro will leave you mind boggled through creativity. Kaleidoscope is evenly split by pow, park and street riding. Being mostly a fan of powder and big mountain lines, Isenseven never disappoints. Even the park riding is full of style making it stand out amongst most bland park edits. Not to mention the movie is filled with great indie music, after watching Kaleidoscope your be left stoked on snowboarding and left with a long list of music to download. Two things every shredflick should do. Isenseven keeps it real, buy Kaleidoscope here or at board store near you.

Do yourself a favor and buy Trouble's latest "Dream's of a Troubled Man", arguably his best yet. Also buy YES It's a Movie, either on iTunes of DVD. So far my favourite shredflick of all time, look forward to a review later this month.

Fuck NoIt's been a while since the last post over here, obviously we're not nearly as dedicated to screen time as all the other try hard's out there. However we do have a fair excuse, of which involves a three month shit show throughout Europe.. See for yourself over at http://follownoleader.blogspot.com/. Today i've assembled a youtube playlist of almost every concert we hit along the way. Yet this visual hardly does justice.. (Click that square on the bottom right the entire list)
Let this commence the winter return of 10cal.blogspot.com, expect more movie reviews, the best of snow viral videos, music finds, short edits, snowboard trips, a blog facelift, and maybe even a photo or two of Al in Colorado. Lastly we would like to gladly announce that as of January 2012 10cal will be based from Whistler BC.10.CALhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02284185342938854450noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8008818225118808418.post-65233003039325961102011-09-21T18:45:00.000-07:002011-09-22T08:46:35.074-07:00Evidence - Cats and Dogs album download
CA all day! Evidences new album "cats and dogs"was due out on the 27th but leaked today.
Ive only listened to the whole album once but it has the potential to be one of the best albums of the year. The production is on point from front to back and with features like Fashawn, Aloe Blacc, Raekwon and Aesop Rock(to name a few) how can you go wrong. Youd have to be a fool not to give this EP a few listens
Sorry for the lack of music posts lately. I just moved to Colorado and School has been really busy, but i figured id post a new band thats been getting lots of listens over the past week during a study break.
Over the past couple of years Stones Throw has been the one record label i can always count on for good quality releases. For this reason i always check out the additions to their roster regardless of the genre.Around christmas i heard the first single of The Stepkids, self titled, freshman album and was pleasantly surprised. They are finally releasing the album on Sept 27th and have thrown it up online to stream for free here.
Chances are you saw this trailer for The Art of Flight months ago, well it's finally time. First and foremost the movie can be found for download in full HD on iTunes, aswell as here for free.. Now i'm not one to endorse the illegal downloading of snowboard films, ill leave that up to you. Although by the number of Redbull logos and heli's I wouldn't feel to guilty. Which leads us to the review of The Art of Flight. There are two ways to look at this film, the first as the highest budget snowboard movie of all time, or looking past that at purely the quality of snowboarding and cinematography. Lets keep an open mind here folks.

This is only the second snowboard movie ever by Brainfarms films, and lets be honest here, the cinematography is amazing. They have super slow-mo cameras and gopros on everything, this makes for every shot to be an unreal one. Never once will a rider go out of the frame, and if he disappears behind a knuckle they have 3 more cameras on the landing. My two favorite scenes happen in AK, the first of which involves the man himself, Travis Rice, dropping to a spine ridden, avalanche prone face from the leg of the REDBULL heli. I've never scene anything like it in my life. To top it off he may or may not throw a casual 5 on the way down. The other scence I found hilarious was during some downtime in AK, the woodsman is them came out and i'll leave it at that.

Overall the riding was on par with That's It That's All, which was rather disappointing. There seemed to be a lot more actual riding in That's It That's All. Art of Flight was filled with a lot more of a story line and artsy filming. Not necessarily a bad thing but perhaps a let down if you dropped you hard earned cheddah on it. Basically I felt it did not live up the hype set by both of its trailers.

Endcase, form your own opinion of The Art of Flight, go into it with an open mind. Sit back and enjoy a movie about helicopters filming helicopters filming snowboarding. 10.CALhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02284185342938854450noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8008818225118808418.post-24785150400801663862011-09-13T14:29:00.000-07:002011-09-13T14:29:45.727-07:00Amateur Hour With PYP
PYPat King and crew's 2011 shred flick, Amateur Hour. Every year these guys seriously push the level of snowsports. The cinematography is par if not better than anything in the industry, and the athletes kill any feature put in front of them. The only thing that separates this from every other film out there is the lack of over credited sponsors and a hefty price tag. All for FREE? What more could you ask for, honestly.. The only problem I had with this years PYP film is the ratio of skiiers to snowboarders, nothing personal to skiiers, i'd just like to see a couple more shredsticks. What are you waiting for? First off we've been gearing up for Eurotrip 2011, after an entire summer off busting my ass at my summer job, its almost time. Sept 20 is the date. Look forward to rich content from another continent. Secondly i've been working on a summer side project at http://adam-beaudoin.blogspot.com/. Adam spent the entire last month of his summer biking from Vancouver to Kingston, Ontario for cancer, raising roughly 40 000 dollars. Not to shabby.. And lastly Alex has moved to Boulder, Colorado for the school year. Hopefully we'll get plenty of content of him ripping the slopes on his new powder skis. Although i have been impressed with most of knxwledges music it has been a little inconsistent at times until this LP which contains some of his best work to date. It figures a good mix of instrumentals and remixes which make you want to here more MCs spit over his abstract beats.
